Dress in the Color of the Year Mocha Mousse with the Blonde Squad
Dress in the Color of the Year Mocha Mousse with the Blonde Squad

Dress in the color of the year Mocha Mousse with the Blonde Squad. I am happy to report that we are finally back with another blog hop. Mocha Mousse was named color of the year for 2025 so we thought we would show how we each would style this beautiful neutral shade.

Dressing Up Mocha Mousse with a Printed Maxi Dress

I found this Mocha Mousse jacket at Nordstrom Rack. Getting a jacket in this shade is perfect for layering in any season. I chose to layer mine over this colorful summer printed maxi dress. I love the contrast of the bold print with this muted shade. Initially I planned to wear this jacket with jeans but as you can see, it works nicely with dresses too. We are in the season where it’s too chilly to wear summer maxi dresses alone so adding this jacket is a great option.

Keeping it Casual in Mocha Mousse

Again I am embracing the contrast of a print with this muted shade. This tank has been in my closet for years and it’s been a while since I’ve worn it. The jacket and jeans both have shades similar in the print so I think it’s a match made in heaven!

More Cosy Island Goodness

I am doing another collaboration on Insta with Cosy Island this upcoming week and I’m still obsessed with the comfort of their shoes. I received two more pairs that I’m wearing in these looks above – the Minimalist Weave Pointed Toe Heeled Slingback in hot pink and the Commute Wild Wedge Square Toe Pumps. Both are so chic and extremely comfortable. The hot pink shade of the slingbacks is the perfect way to add a pop of color to a look and the leopard print heel of the wedges are so cool. Have you tried Cosy Island shoes yet?

10 Reasons To Use Apple Cider Vinegar On Your Curly Hair
10 Reasons To Use Apple Cider Vinegar On Your Curly Hair

For those of us blessed with curls, finding the perfect hair care routine can feel like solving a complex puzzle. Between managing frizz, defining curls, and keeping our scalps healthy, curly hair demands extra attention.

While luxurious hair masks and specialist products have their place, one surprisingly powerful ingredient might already be sitting in your kitchen cupboard: apple cider vinegar.

This home remedy has become increasingly popular in the curly hair community, and for good reason. Apple cider vinegar (ACV) offers a wealth of benefits specifically suited to address the unique challenges faced by those with curly, coily, and wavy hair textures.

Let’s explore 10 reasons why incorporating an apple cider vinegar rinse into your routine might be the game-changing solution your curls have been craving.

1.Restores Your Hair’s Natural pH Balance

Curly hair tends to be more alkaline than other hair types, which can lead to frizz and dryness. Apple cider vinegar’s naturally acidic composition helps restore your hair’s optimal pH balance.

The pH of healthy hair and scalp is slightly acidic, typically ranging from 4.5 to 5.5, but many commercial hair products are alkaline, which can disrupt this balance. Apple cider vinegar rinses help return hair to its natural acidic state, resulting in smoother, more manageable curls.

When your hair’s pH is balanced, the cuticle lies flat, allowing for enhanced shine and reduced frizz – essential factors for defined, bouncy curls.

2.Removes Product Build-up Without Harsh Detergents

Product build-up is particularly problematic for those with curly hair who often use multiple styling products to define their curl pattern. Over time, these products can accumulate, weighing down curls and diminishing their natural spring.

An apple cider vinegar rinse effectively dissolves this residue without stripping the hair of its natural oils. Unlike clarifying shampoos that might contain harsh sulphates, an ACV rinse offers a gentle yet thorough cleanse that’s especially beneficial for those following the Curly Girl Method.

      3.Soothes Dry, Itchy Scalp Conditions

Those with curly hair often struggle with scalp issues, partly because natural oils have difficulty travelling down the hair shaft’s spiral structure. This can result in a dry scalp, dandruff, or general irritation.

“Along with antimicrobial properties that can effectively relieve inflammation, apple cider vinegar helps balance your pH and exfoliate scalp skin, which can minimize dandruff and reduce itchiness,” says Gina Rivera, founder of Phenix Salons and creator of Colours by Gina.

By creating an environment where fungus and bacteria struggle to thrive, regular ACV rinses can help maintain scalp health between wash days—particularly beneficial for those who follow low-poo or no-poo routines.

        4.Enhances Natural Curl Definition

Perhaps one of the most exciting benefits of using apple cider vinegar on curly hair is its ability to enhance your natural curl pattern.

By closing the hair cuticle and reducing frizz, an ACV rinse allows your curls to form more cohesive, defined patterns.

          5.Addresses High Porosity Hair Concerns

Understanding your hair porosity – how readily your hair absorbs and retains moisture – is crucial for proper curl care. Many people with curly hair have high porosity strands, meaning the cuticle is more open and moisture escapes easily.

According to Davines, apple cider vinegar helps to “seal the cuticles, reducing porosity and promoting shine.” This makes it particularly beneficial for those whose curl type quiz results indicate high porosity hair.

            6.Adds Remarkable Shine Without Silicones

According to Gretchen Friese, BosleyMD hairstylist and certified trichologist, “ACV smooths and seals the hair cuticle, making it ideal for reaching high-shine levels. The enzymes from the fermented apple close and smooth the hair cuticle, the protective layer that locks in vital lipids, proteins, and moisture.”

This smoothing action creates a surface that naturally reflects more light, giving curls a healthy, radiant shine. Unlike commercial shine serums that coat the hair with silicones and synthetic ingredients, the shine from an apple cider vinegar rinse comes from improved hair health and structure at the cuticle level.

              7.Detangles Without Causing Breakage

Detangling curly hair can be challenging, often resulting in breakage and damage. The smoother cuticle created by an apple cider vinegar rinse significantly reduces friction between strands, making the detangling process gentler and more efficient.

When the hair cuticle is properly sealed, strands glide past each other more easily. This reduced friction means less breakage during detangling, which is crucial for maintaining length in curly hair.

              8.Stimulates Hair Growth

For those looking to grow their curls longer, apple cider vinegar may offer additional benefits. The acidic nature of ACV helps remove dead skin cells and promote a healthier environment for hair growth.

A clean, balanced scalp environment is essential for optimal hair growth, and regular ACV rinses help maintain these conditions without disrupting your scalp’s natural oil production.

                9.Combats Hard Water Effects

Hard water contains minerals like calcium, magnesium, and iron that can build up on hair over time, creating a stubborn residue that makes curls appear dull, feel stiff, and lose their natural bounce.

This mineral accumulation is particularly problematic for curly hair textures, as these deposits create a barrier that prevents moisture from penetrating the hair shaft—leading to increased dryness, frizz, and disrupted curl patterns.

For many curly-haired people living in hard water areas, even the most luxurious conditioning treatments can’t deliver their full benefits when fighting against this invisible mineral coating.

According to research from The Independent Pharmacy, the acetic acid in apple cider vinegar effectively dissolves these mineral deposits, essentially resetting your hair’s surface. This allows your conditioning products to penetrate more effectively, resulting in more hydrated, defined curls that respond better to styling products.

                  10.Offers a Cost-Effective, Natural Alternative

Perhaps one of the most practical benefits of using apple cider vinegar for curly hair is its affordability and accessibility.

While specialised curly hair products can be quite expensive, a bottle of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar costs a fraction of the price and yields multiple treatments.

This makes it an excellent option for those looking to maintain their curls on a budget without compromising on results.

                      • Grows incredibly slowly, meaning it won’t outgrow your desk space

The ZZ plant has earned its reputation as nearly unkillable, making it a stellar choice for office environments where plant care might slip your mind. This gorgeous plant with its polished, emerald leaves thrives in low light and requires watering only when completely dry. For best results, allow the soil to dry out between waterings and trim occasionally to encourage fuller growth – each cutting can even be propagated to create new plants for colleagues.

                        4.Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum)

These fast-growing beauties adapt to various light conditions, though they prefer bright indirect light. The arching leaves create an elegant fountain effect, while the baby plantlets add whimsical charm. These fascinating plants take low maintenance to new heights – literally growing on air! Air plants absorb moisture and nutrients through their leaves rather than roots, making them ideal for minimalist office spaces. Simply mist thoroughly once a week or soak for 20 minutes in filtered water every two weeks. Their small size and unique appearance make them perfect conversation starters, while their adaptability means they can thrive almost anywhere with indirect light.

                                  12.English Ivy (Hedera helix)

English ivy thrives in medium light conditions and prefers consistently moist (but not waterlogged) soil. Its trailing habit works beautifully cascading from shelves or trained around monitor stands. While preferring higher humidity than some office plants, regular misting keeps ivy looking its best – rewarding your efforts with lush, air-purifying greenery that softens harsh office edges.

                                  13.Haworthia

Haworthias stay remarkably small, making them perfect desk plants for limited spaces. They prefer bright indirect light but adapt well to office conditions and can thrive under fluorescent lighting. Water sparingly – only when the soil is completely dry – and these architectural gems will reward you with interesting textures and patterns without demanding much attention in return.

These compact beauties perform surprisingly well in office environments, particularly enjoying the consistent temperature and fluorescent lighting. Water from the bottom when the soil feels dry to the touch, avoid getting water on the fuzzy leaves, and these flowering gems will reward you with continuous blooms – bringing a cheerful presence to even the most demanding workdays.

                                        • Victorian-era favourite that’s making a stylish comeback

Living up to its name, the cast iron plant might be the toughest office plant available. With broad, glossy leaves that emerge directly from the soil, this resilient beauty tolerates deep shade, irregular watering, and temperature fluctuations with remarkable grace. Place it in a forgotten corner of your office and water occasionally when the soil feels dry – this unfussy plant will continue to look impressive with minimal input from you, bringing classic elegance to modern workspaces.

                                        • Develop a consistent watering routine that works with your schedule
                                        • Consider a small humidifier for moisture-loving varieties in dry office environments
                                        • Rotate plants occasionally to ensure even growth
                                        • Clean leaves regularly to remove dust and keep them looking their best
                                        • Be mindful of temperature fluctuations, particularly near air conditioning vents

With these simple care practices, your office desk plants will flourish, transforming your workspace into a more productive, healthy, and visually appealing environment.

Beyond Basic Beige: The Best Trench Coats Dominating Spring 2025

The first tender rays of sunshine have barely broken through winter’s grip, yet fashion’s collective pulse quickens as trench coats reclaim their rightful place in our seasonal rotation.

As former Nordstrom VIP stylist Sansy Koszarek tells Who What Wear,After a long winter, a trench coat is a spring staple I can’t wait to wear—the perfect layer to complete my outfits.”

But calling a trench merely “versatile” feels like describing champagne as bubbly water. This storied silhouette transforms its wearer, lending military precision to Monday meetings and effortless nonchalance to Sunday farmers’ markets.

With its heritage pedigree and understated elegance, the trench has long been a cornerstone of the coveted “old money” aesthetic—a genuine investment piece that transcends trends while signaling refined taste.
