Mix a Brown Floral Sweater with Chic Black and White Basics
Mix a Brown Floral Sweater with Chic Black and White Basics

Today I’m sharing how to mix a brown floral sweater with chic black and white basics. This was another purchase from the boutique I work at but it was on major sale. I loved it so much when I first saw it and I was pleasantly surprised that it made past Christmas on the rack. Brown is such a popular shade right now so why not pair it with black and white?

Brown Floral Sweater with a Black Pleated Midi Skirt

This skirt first appeared on the blog here and here. Most women get scared of mixing black and brown but I think all neutrals mix well together. (Black and navy is one of my favorite combinations.) The key with making this outfit flattering is tucking in the sweater and adding the bow belt. Leaving the sweater out gives no shape to my body.

Brown Floral Sweater with White Jeans

Why not wear white jeans in winter? There are no rules now when it comes to wearing white. I love how the brown sweater just pops off the jeans. I can leave the sweater untucked because of the fitted flare jeans. To finish off the look, I added my leopard and pink suede bag. I love how the pink suede picks up the pink in the sweater and the leopard mimics the floral pattern.

Which look is your fave? I think of the first look being perfect for church while the second is a cool casual going out look for the weekend. Yay for finding a sweater that can work with my black and white basics! Have you added brown to your winter wardrobe?

How I’m Styling My Cozy Chic Spanx AirEssentials Set
How I’m Styling My Cozy Chic Spanx AirEssentials Set

I’m sharing how I’m styling my cozy chic Spanx AirEssentials set. I was lucky to buy this set at the boutique that I work at because we sold out of it in less than a week! Since then I have been wearing it nonstop so I had to share some of the ways I’ve worn both pieces. I absolutely 100% recommend that you get your hands on this set. The quality and versatility of these items will last for years in your wardrobe.

Spanx AirEssentials Half Zip and Wide Leg Pants

It’s not a secret that I love all things Spanx. I have their flared jeans, wide leg pants, bras, and several pieces of their shapewear. Their price points are higher but so worth it because of the quality. Not to mention that it makes me feel confident in what I’m wearing.

This set is sold as separates but get both because you can wear each item with so many different things. I got mine in their very black shimmer which was a limited color for the holidays but there are over 20 shades to choose from. I am wearing a size XS. I can’t think of a better outfit to wear when traveling. (I am counting down the days until my next trip in March.)

Dress Up Your Set

To dress up these wide leg pants, I added a black sweater, leather jacket, and some booties. It’s so easy to transform sporty casual into a chic night out look.

Keeping it Day Casual

This time I chose to wear just the half zip with skinny jeans and knee boots. So classic and easy to put together! Have I convinced you to give this set a go? There are so many sets like this out there so if you can’t do this brand because of price, there are several others to try like this one here. Are you a fan of athleisure sets like this?

Classic Casual Chic in Black and White Stripes and Wide Leg Jeans
Classic Casual Chic in Black and White Stripes and Wide Leg Jeans

I’m classic casual chic in black and white stripes and wide leg jeans for my first post of 2025. The jeans were the only piece of clothing I received as a gift for Christmas but what a good item to receive! This petite gal found a pair that checks off all the boxes – style, comfort, and a decent price point.

Ribbed Sweater and Wide Leg Jeans

These wide leg jeans are by Wit & Wisdom and I’m obsessed! Somehow they weren’t too long on me even though they aren’t a petite size. They are also super soft and the fit is fabulous. The dark color gives off a dressy vibe and they are priced under a $100. I plan on recommending these to my clients if they need a pair.

The ribbed striped top was a find when I was doing last minute shopping at Kohl’s. I never get sick of black and white and it works perfectly with the high-waisted jeans. It’s also a great layering piece under blazers, jackets, and vest like I am wearing below.

To Vest or not to Vest?

Do you like the added vest? Or do you prefer to keep it simple with just the sweater? I like that the vest adds a bit of edge and dresses up the look even more. I’ve had this vest for years but love that I can wear it with wide leg jeans which is a newer addition to my wardrobe.
