Sharing how to rock the fresh combo of a cardigan and wide leg jeans this spring. The cardigan was shared in this post and was an awesome sale find after the holiday season. I can’t get enough of this fun color so I decided to style it for the upcoming spring season but with a winter season tweak. The weather is not quite there yet for bare legs here in Chicago.

Cardigan and Wide Leg Jeans Combo for Spring

These cropped wide leg jeans were from a Nuuly box I recently received and I thought they would make the favorite cardigan pop. It’s still chilly here so I chose to pair them with my knee boots to keep my legs warm. My leopard bag brings the neutrals and pink shades together.
Life Lately
I thought I would give you all an update on what’s going on with me and my family. First up is me. I am a complete mess with this menopause transition. It has brought me down to my knees. Everything else has gone to the wayside at this point until I figure out a solution to my mood swings. It’s that bad. My suffering is making everyone else suffer so I’m trying to surrender to God’s plans. Praying I find relief this week when I see my naturopathic doctor for the second time. I took several tests that measured my hormone levels and I should get the results when I see her.
While I wait I am reading this book by Christine Northrup titled, “The Wisdom of Menopause: Creating Physical and Emotional Health During the Change”. The first sentence of the book made me feel less insane so I feel like it will be a good companion through this journey.
My husband Michael is about to embark on a new job situation. He has been semi-retired for the last year and half and it’s been a good experience to have him around all the time. But soon he will be back to working 40 hours a week. This is probably a good thing because I’m driving him crazy!
College Plans
Both sons are figuring out their college situation. My oldest Evan is graduating from Indiana University in May with a music education degree. He would like to get a Masters in Orchestral Conducting which means he has taken a couple of auditions. Hopefully we will have an idea of what he’s doing in the next couple of months.
My youngest Austin is graduating from high school this May and is in the process of figuring out where he wants to go to study French Horn music performance. He handled the audition process wonderfully and I’m so proud of the growth we saw in his playing.
So many changes happening in each one of us! They only thing getting me through this craziness is my art journaling practice. Hallelujah for art supplies!
Have a great week! XO
Menopause sucks. 🙂 – I’ve been following and listening to Dr. Mary Claire, she’s got a lot of great and helpful information. I wish you luck in your journey.
Thanks for sharing Karen. I will check her out! Enjoy your week!
Oh my gosh, that pink on you is phenomenal! That’s a good way to put it, bring us to our knees! Life is transitioning, my friend, but everything will work out as it should! I’m here in Bloomington right now if your boy needs anything, lol!
Thanks Andrea! Have a fantastic week!
It’s a fresh look, I like the color combination, it’s good that your husband is starting a new stage as are your two children.
Thanks Rebeca! Enjoy your week!
Indeed many changes, but change is good! And so are cropped trousers, I love them.
Thanks Sharron Murphy! Have a wonderful week!
I love the colour of this jacket/cardigan and it looks fabulous with the white cropped trousers.
I really hope you find a solution for the menopause mood swings.

Thanks Julia! Have a great week!
I remember having these Chinese pills that we called my “bitch pills” when I was PMSing. Hormones can make such a difference in our moods.
Tell Mike good luck with the new job and I hope your doc appointment goes well.

Jodie
PS. Love the look especially with the boots
Thanks Jodie! Enjoy the rest of your week!
I hope you get some answers from your doctor this week. Menopause is no fun, but post menopause is so much better! I love you in pink…your eyes just sparkle when you wear it. Good luck to everyone as your lives transition to the next steps.

Thanks Marsha! Have a fantastic week!
I am so sorry you are dealing with such awful mood swings, Kathrine. I’ll keep you in my prayers. I have had some sleep issues/headaches with perimenopause, so I hope menopause isn’t worse. 🙁 I hope the doctor can help you and just keep doing what you love (the art journaling). Good luck to your husband AND boys!

You are a musically talented family! I hope the menopause symptoms subside with something! I am hoping I will follow in my mom’s footsteps of it not being too wild for me. Love this pretty combo! I just finished switching out my closet for spring and I feel like there are so many outfit opportunities!

It’s not official yet so I can’t say but it will be close by. Have a great day Laura!
The cardigan + wide leg jeans combo is not easy to style, so I was very interested to see this pretty seasonal transition look. I like how the bag brings everything together. Praying that you find your way through with your menopause struggles.
Thanks so much Sally! Have a fabulous day!
Kathrine, you know how I feel about this pink – WOW!!! I love it so much!
I am really sorry to hear your menopause side effects are that bad, I can relate. I swear some days are so much harder than others and then it seems like a switch is flipped and I am back to being myself again. I recently started using the patch and progesterone pills at night so I am hoping to get some relief soon. I am thinking of you and holding you up in prayer my friend.
The men in your life have quite a bit going on too – sounds like some big changes ahead!
xo,

Thanks Regine! Have a blessed day!
That’s such a fabulous cardigan! I love the bright pink shade. I’m sorry to hear about your menopause problems. I started on HRT patches last year and they have helped but I’ve asked to be referred to a menopause clinic because in the UK GPs can’t prescribe testosterone gel I and I’ve heard a lot of women say that it helps with energy levels, which is something I struggle with. I hope you can get some kind or treatment plan that works. Thanks for linking!

Thanks for sharing your journey Emma and for the support! Have a fabulous day!
Sending you all the hugs and prayers, Kathrine! I just hate you’re going through this and I’m sure your family understands that you’re going through something that you truly can’t help. I hope things get so much better for you and that the test results will help you and your doctor navigate this in the best way possible. Prayers for your hubby going back to working 40 hours per week, I hope he likes his new job, and your kids are doing so amazing. Following in their very talented momma’s footsteps! I am so glad your art journaling is therapeutic for you, you do such an amazing job with it too!! I just love this beautiful outfit too, that pink jacket is just the best!
